Peak-Ventilator-Moss Chamber 23.08.09
Larry, Steve Lloyd (WSG) + (Tom Spriggs, Kevin Francis, Mike (new guy)
Arriving at Peak entrance we were told that a Murder/Mystery event was starting in the cave so we had to be out by 5pm giving us just over 4 hours. We decided to give it a try but carrying a bag of rope and SRT kit each through to the Ventilator took til 2pm and we decided to abort leaving the ropes and SRT kits for Sunday. On the way out we decided to go to Moss Chamber were Steve hadn't been. The eyehole was fun especially on the return and the chamber as spectacular as ever. We cleaned some of the lower formations with the brush provided, someone on a recent trip seemed to have brushed against them. We met Tom, Kevin and Mike just before we re-entered Pickerings. We had a chat and were out of the cave by 3.30pm.
Peak-White River Series Chamber 24.08.09
Larry, Steve Lloyd (WSG), Tom Bell (SUSS)
We were in the cave before 10am and with the extra help of Tom we had dragged ourselves to Block Hall by just after 12pm. With the joys of Colostomy behind us we enjoyed the fine ascent of over 100m. The formations at the top are superb. Woodhouse Way was negotiated and the White River Series really is magnificent. We descended the Ventilator which was superb fun, pulling the 50m rope behind. The rope came down all three pitches nicely so the spare rope we had dragged all the way proved unnecessary. Unfortunately we had Liams way and the trenches to drag through again but the lure of a shower and a cuppa drove us on to an exit by 3.30pm.
