Home Trip Reports Victoria Aven - Peak Cavern

Victoria Aven - Peak Cavern

Present: Larry Blanchard, Mandy Fu, Kevin Francis and Imogen Shepherd

Left the Chapel about 12.30 after finally deciding on this trip.  Mandy was ready first and led up and we got to the top of the right hand branch via a nice pendulum.  This branch, which is pretty, seems about 30m higher than the left hand branch.  At this point we got a shout from Imo that Kev had lost a contact lens and they were aborting.

Mandy and I descended the right and then ascended the left.  Mandy went down a couple of tight crawls.  Then we slithered down the correct way and soon emerged at the Victoria Line.  The way on to the right soon brings you to the first pitch on the way to Echo Chamber.  Without any BP naturals, a dodgy bar and a more dodgy spit were the only anchors.  Just past the pitch a climb up an aven of about 6m brought me to a window above the pitch.  We turned round at this point and then bombed down the rope.  I met Rob Eavis’s Titan through trip group at Buxton Water.

We exited via Swine Hole and were back at the Chapel by 4.30pm.  In later chat, at the Chapel with Jim Lister, he volunteered to P hanger the pitches some time in December.
