Oxlow was still rigged from the previous weekend so this seemed like a good excuse for another exchange. Martyn and Jim were given a 45 minute head start whilst the remaining team settled for a good chinwag, a leisurely change and slow wander up. The weather was perfect – hot and sunny and almost too nice to go underground.
Timing was immaculate and the Oxlow party descended to meet the Maskill riggers just as the first of them got to the bottom of the final Oxlow pitch. We chatted for a while then pottered off to our respective exits. Angus derigged Maskill whilst Roy and Elaine took the bags. Roy was very disappointed to find that his rather heavy bag was wrestled from him by the cave fairies when two late arrivals from Nottingham University met him at the bottom of the entrance series, hoping for a trip.
Two superb mines and excellent company. Many thanks to the un-named Nottingham University pair who happily took the rope bag despite getting only a very brief time underground.
