Home Digs & Projects Titan Shaft

Titan Shaft

You all should have heard about Titan, a 145 metre high aven in the Far Sump Extensions of Peak Cavern, the highest aven in the country. A large passage near the top comes into the side of Titan, that must be the inlet that allowed such a large quantity of water to form this shaft, but its blocked by a large boulder choke after a couple of metres. It was therefore decided upon to drop a shaft from the surface into this passage, as well making access to Titan easier, it would enable the diggers to attack this choke and gain the continuation of this large passage and subsequently discover more cave.

A 49 metre shaft was dropped into the side of Titan over a four year period, connecting in May 2003, now it was time to continue with the shaft but to pass this boulder choke in order to gain the passage mentioned above.

This isn't an official TSG dig but the main people behind the dig are TSG members. Many members are still or were part of the digging team that finally resulted in the connection being made.
