These extensions were discovered during the foot and mouth epidemic when two NCC lads visited Derbyshire, looked at a long since forgotten part of Peak Cavern, dug at this very muddy dig and discovered this extension. They were accompanied by several members of TSG. Apart from discovering about 80 vertical metres of cave, this section was connected to a further two known points of Peak Cavern as well as the way in.
An article will be published on this extension in the next TSG Journal.
A couple of TSG members this year went to climb an unclimbed aven in the extension resulting in nearly 20 metres of well decorated passage, called the Traverse of the Spods. The end of the extension is a calcite blockage but a small body sized crawl can be seen beyond so a return is definitely planned this autumn to attempt to pass this blockage!!
