Cliff Cavern was originally climbed in the eighties by a joint team from DCC and TSG resulting in two passages being gained, Cliffhanger Passage and Joint Effort which were fully explored. Over the years, you can say that these passages were forgotten about and the ropes and bolts which hung there for twenty plus years became dodgy; nobody was willing to prussik up them so you could have said that these passages were lost.
During 2004, a team from TSG re-ascended Cliff Cavern to reach Cliffhanger passage exploring as far as Cliffhanger sump, probably seeing the later in lower water conditions than previous explorers.
We are planning to climb up to the Joint Effort passage during the autumn so watch this space!
