About Us

Digging above the clouds at Longcliffe MineThe TSG is an active, Derbyshire-based caving club with a long history. Despite our name, we cater for a wide range of underground activities in both natural cave and mine environments, ranging from purely recreational trips to research, fieldwork, digging and exploration.  We are based in Castleton, in the heart of the Peak District, and close to several of the best caving venues in Derbyshire, as well as numerous pubs, shops and all the attractions of one of the most popular countryside tourist destinations in Britain.

The club has always maintained a special interest in the Peak-Speedwell system, and various exploration and conservation projects are always ongoing in this fascinating area. If you are interested in joining, come along to a monthly club meeting at the Chapel.

A members-only forum is also available for discussion of projects and other club issues in the Members menu.

We offer

  • Regular Caving trips all over the UK
  • Accommodation in Castleton (the 'Chapel')
  • Monthly Meetings
  • Social Events
  • Participation in Derbyshire cave exploration
